Infusion Services at SCCH
 |
Sullivan County Community Hospital has recently made renovations to the former Respiratory Therapy, Outpatient Surgery and Laboratory areas in order to offer more convenience in providing Infusion Services to area residents.
What are Infusions Services at SCCH?
Infusions services include blood transfusions and IV therapies, such as IV antibiotic treatments, which your physician may order for you to have on a series basis.
The new Infusion Services area will have four recliners, as well as access to nine beds in the new Outpatient Surgery area, for a total of up to thirteen patients being treated at one time. Patients may receive IV therapies now on a twenty-four hour/seven-day per week schedule.
Those patients who will receive blood transfusions will need to come in a day prior to their transfusion to have their blood type matched so the appropriate blood will be available for them at the time of treatment. Previously, these patients were admitted to the hospital for such treatment, but the new area will allow for these to be performed on an outpatient basis.
Entrance to this area is achieved through the new automatic door installed in the hallway between the rotunda and cafeteria. There is a larger, well-lit waiting room, and two doors which access the new Lab drawing area and the Infusion Services/Outpatient Surgery area. Patients will use the left door to enter Infusion Services/Outpatient Surgery.
Marilyn Fuson, Surgical Services Coordinator, says SCCH has established this area to “better accommodate the community, and make receiving IV therapies a better experience for our patients.”
