 Laparoscopic technology, fiber optic light sources, and refined endoscopes are some of the technological advances which enable SCCH to utilize modern techniques which lessen trauma to the body and allow more rapid recovery and early discharge. No-stitch cataract surgery is available in the SCCH facility on an outpatient basis. SCCH also performs all general surgeries, orthopedic surgery and C-sections.
Beginning in January, 2010, Regional Anesthesia Group provides anesthesia services to the Sullivan County area. Some of the new offerings from the group include chronic pain management care (such as full epidural service), intrathecal narcotics, regional blockades and continuous blocks, all performed only by physician referral. They also perform trans-abdominal plane blocks for OB patients for either c-sections or hysterectomies.
 This provides 24-hour numbing capabilities, keeping the patient comfortable for much longer periods of time than was previously available. Laboring mothers are able to receive epidurals, as well as other forms of pain management, throughout the labor and delivery process.
