Sullivan County Community Hospital’s Education Department offers a variety of classes for both employees and the community. CPR and First Aid classes are usually available to the public monthly, at a cost of $25 for CPR and $25 for First Aid. A current book is required for the class at a cost of $15. Those interested in participating must call (812) 268-4311, ext. 2311 to register for the classes.
Diabetic classes are available to the community, and are especially helpful to those who are newly diagnosed. These classes are free, and are scheduled quarterly.
Asthma classes are generally scheduled two times per year, with the SCCH Respiratory Therapy Department presenting options for managing asthma. Watch for the next available classes in the What’s New section of the SCCH website.
SCCH’s OB Department offers free childbirth classes, with new seven-week sessions beginning in January, April, July and October. Classes meet on Tuesday nights from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Contact the OB Department at (812) 268-4311, ext. 2338 for more information or to register.
SafeSitter classes are available for children ages 11 and up who are interested in learning proper and safe techniques for babysitting. These classes are two-day courses and are offered during summer break. Check the What's New section on this website for the next available class schedule.
For those who are working in the healthcare field, continuing education classes are available throughout the year. Offerings include the following: ACLS, PALS, TB certification, Neonatal Resuscitation, Basic EKG and 12-lead EKG classes.
