ICCU

The SCCH Intensive Coronary Care Unit, ICCU, is a special area in the hospital designed for those patients requiring constant observation, as well as specialized medical and nursing care. Our four ICCU rooms are equipped with the latest technological advances for quality patient care, including cardiac monitoring and management of ventilator patients.

ICCU is also capable of providing telehealth services in multiple disciplines, including cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology, and mental health. These services use a monitor/webcam, allowing the physician to see, assess, and speak with the patient from off-site locations with the assistance of the on-site nursing staff. Telehealth equipment also provides patients with a means to visit with family that may live too far away to visit in person.

Recognizing the importance of rest in the healing process, ICCU patients—like all inpatients at SCCH—observe an undisturbed rest hour from 2:00 p.m. ’til 3:00 p.m. every afternoon. During this period, lights are dimmed, visitors are asked to be respectful of the hour, and medical and nursing staff keeps interruptions to a minimum.

Normal visiting hours for all SCCH inpatients are from 8:00 AM.-7:00 PM daily. Visitors should be 18 years or older. Exceptions can be made at the patient’s request and nursing staff’s discretion. Clergy can visit at any time.
