Ownership and Governance


SCCH is a not-for-profit full-service hospital in Sullivan, Indiana Sullivan County Community Hospital is a county-owned, not-for-profit hospital located in Sullivan, Indiana. Despite SCCH’s status as a county-owned facility, no tax dollars are used to subsidize its operations or maintenance. The hospital’s not-for-profit status ensures that all financial resources remaining after expenses are legally committed to upgrading technology, patient services and the facility as a whole.


    SCCH is governed by a five-member Board of Trustees, appointed to four-year terms by the Sullivan County Commissioners in accordance with Indiana Code. They represent a broad spectrum of business and community leaders in the Sullivan County area.

    The Board of Trustees determines hospital policy and provides direction and counsel on strategic issues such as management, planning and development. They are responsible for hospital compliance with applicable legal requirements, the maintenance of professional and ethical standards of healthcare services, the appropriate financial management of SCCH, and the selection and appointment of a qualified medical staff.

    Board meetings are scheduled monthly, usually the third Tuesday of each month, and are open to the public.
